A Dose of Design

We've been very busy this spring adding lots of new options to your silhouettes. We're so excited about our new holiday tabletop designs. This year you can design a unique plate for each member of your family or create a set for everyone with the same design. These uniquely personalized, melamine plates and trays are beautiful, unbreakable, BPA free and made in the USA. We offer an assortment of designs and you have the option of adding the name or text of your choice. Plates are 10" for $35 and trays are 10" x 14" for $40. .

Tell Your Story

I came across these wonderful personalized blocks from Storyblox on Cool Mom Picks awhile back and loved them. On two of the sides, your child's name is spelled out in both upper and lowercase letters. That leaves the other four sides that you can fill with whatever (copyright-free) phrases, poems, songs, birth stats, etc., you can come up with and they'll split it up over the series of blocks.

The letters, numbers and symbols are painted on using stencils and a very durable indoor/outdoor, child safe, non-toxic paint. They'll even do custom colors for you. The text is applied toner ink (so no more dangerous than a photo copy). These blocks are VERY durable and will survive most any abuse that doesn't destroy the wood itself.

In addition to these name blocks, they can also make up Promo Blocks for your business, as we did here. People just go nuts for them everytime they see them.

Tell Your Family's Tale

I first discovered Good Stock last year in the now deceased Child magazine. Each of their handcrafted, personalized books features your family tree, vignettes about family members, and vintage illustrations, and to top it off, you can choose your choice of silhouettes on the cover.

I came across these cookie cutters in Country Home's Holiday with Mathew Mead magazine last December.

They're made by Victor Trading Company. You can purchase these exact cutters or they will customize them for you from your silhouettes. The cost is approximately $35 per cutter, including shipping. To have your silhouette made, please visit us at Simply Silhouettes and we'd be happy to help you.

One of my favorite catalogs is Brocade Home, (brought to us by Restoration Hardware) although my home does not resemble it in any way. (A girl can dream, can't she?)

The image above has been featured in their recent spring issues and I was captivated by these plates, along with the aptly named "Silhouette Table".

After some research, I found that they were done by Sarah Cihat. You can see more examples of her "Rehabilitated Dishware" here.

A favorite daily read of mine is Danny Seo's blog, Simply Green. He's done a lot of similar plates, reglazing thrifted plates with just a sticker cut into a silhouette and some porcelain glaze that can be found at Michaels or other local craft store.
